Eagle Square Langkawi

Eagle Square (Dataran Lang) are popular with local visitors and tour groups. The 12m (39.4 ft) high Brahminy Kite at Eagle Square is visible from arriving ferries and is the island's mascot. Legend has is that Langkawi gets its name from local word for eagle, "helang". In old Malays, "kawi" means reddish brown, so Langkawi refers to a reddish brown eagle which is actually the Brahminy Kite. Eagle Square
